PRETREATMENT BEFORE BONDING:
Adhesives won't bond dirty surfaces! Depending on
the adhesive, substrates and the project requirements, there are four
levels of pretreatment (listed in order of increasing effectiveness):
1. Dry wipe only with a clean, lint-free cloth
2. Degrease, even fingerprints contain oil that can
contaminate substrate surfaces!
3. Degrease, abrade (with sandpaper or grit blasting) and remove
loose particles
4. Degrease and chemically pre-treat according to manufacturer
recommendations.
